LOOKING TO VENTURE
FURTHER AFIELD?
For the perfect relaxing beach or pool holiday, stay very local and chill!
Take the beach walk along the coastline on the Senda Litoral – the Coastal Boardwalk – to La Cala, stopping off at one of the little beach bars for al fresco sardines and a glass of something cold.
However if you have more adventure and wanderlust in your soul you are very close to history, stunning locations and the south of Spain away from the “Costa”.
However you choose to spend your holiday – enjoy and come back soon!
Mijas
A short ride inland finds Mijas. It’s in the mountains above 6D and is a fabulous village with its horse drawn carriages, great bars and eateries, local artisans, amazing views, history and a bull ring!
Gibraltar
Get a slice of “home” and visit Gibraltar for a different experience or take the short trip across the Straits to Africa.
Marbella
Orange Square in old town in Marbella is a beautiful spot, or try one of the 24 restaurants in Benahavis – just through Marbella and up in the mountains.
Istan
Istan above Marbella is crossed by the river Verde before reaching La Concepción reservoir in the midst of stunning landscapes. Set in this Garden of Eden, the village is full of fountains, viewpoints, and interesting nooks and crannies. The Church of San Miguel and the Escalante Tower are the main tourist attractions in the village known as The “Water Spring of the Costa del Sol”. The irrigation and water flows in the village made by the Moors, still exist as does the tiny village of El Chorro.
Seville
If you get time, drive to Seville – two and a half hours but well worth the journey or try the fabulously restored Cadiz. If your stay in Spain is long enough, stay overnight.
Granada
For something really different try Granada and the Sierra Nevada – Two and a half hours drive gets you to the ski slopes – best between November and March !
La Canada
Golf abounds and serious shopping at La Canada (pronounced Canyarda) this side of Marbella on the A7/N340 and Miramar, the other way towards Malaga, are fabulous Malls. The stunning architectural El Jorte Ingles at Fuengirola is worth a tour too. And for some fun there is regular horse racing at the Hipodromo track, just inland outside La Cala.
Local Markets
Visit a local market – La Cala, Fuengirola, Calahonda – there are many local to 6D, and grab a bargain! The Saturday market in Puerto Banus is as you would expect, up market or try the amazing Sunday market at Sabinillas on the way to Gibraltar through Estepona. Take Sunday lunch Spanish style at Venta Victoria on the road up to Casares on the way back from the market.
